MedSym, Inc. Announces General Availability Release of HemOncPro Suite, Version 4.1

TUSCALOOSA, Alabama — February 22, 2009 (Newswire Today)

MedSym, Inc. announces the immediate release of the HemOncPro Suite, Version 4.1 from beta QA to General Availability status for physician and clinic utilization. The HemOncPro Suite is comprised of three (3) fully integrated oncology/hematology applications: HemOncProPM (practice management), HemOncProEHR (electronic health record) and HemOncProLIS (laboratory information system). The system is unique in all of oncology in that the application is designed on a single Microsoft SQL database.

MedSym is a wholly owned subsidiary of Southeast Cancer Network. HemOncPro 4.1 has been in development for 4 years with one objective: to create a feature-rich electronic health record that was both cutting edge and affordable to small- and medium-sized medical practices and clinics. MedSym's current HemOncPro clients will be upgraded at no charge to all of the new enhancements within the application.

According to MedSym's Chief Executive Officer Keith Whitley, "A major clinical solution for medical oncologists has been achieved with this release. The release of HemOncPro 4.1 ends the lack of a comprehensively integrated Electronic Medical Record and Practice Management software for the oncology setting. HemOncPro has been developed in concert with over 300 dedicated healthcare associates at Southeast Cancer Network. With this release our clients will continue to benefit from the unique attributes of a system developed by oncologists for oncologists."

Owned and managed by physicians and senior healthcare executives, Southeast Cancer Network is known for innovations in the delivery and treatment of cancer care, in addition to the adoption of leading information and technology solutions. In addition to being one of the highest rated products on the market, HemOncPro has been certified by the Certification Commission for Healthcare Information Technology (CCHIT), the recognized certification authority for electronic health records. MedSym is firmly established as a focused EHR and practice management technology company for medical oncologists.

"Southeast Cancer Network partnered with MedSym because of MedSym's dedication to products of the highest quality, the ability to create and manage software solutions for physicians and affiliated staff and their commitment to total customer satisfaction," stated Whitley.

The HemOncPro Suite consists of patient charting, e-prescription, e-labs/diagnostic tests, oncology disease management, document imaging, workflow management, and revenue cycle management. The application can be hosted on servers at MedSym's secure data center and distributed through an ASP as well as on resident servers at physicians' offices.

Both HemOncProLIS, MedSym's laboratory information system, and HemOncProPM, MedSym's practice management software, integrate seamlessly with HemOncProEHR. Matt Predmore, Director of Application Development commented, "Utilizing HemOncPro modules within an integrated architecture not only offers a highly functional workflow environment, but also a significant cost savings by eliminating additional interface charges that are typically a part of the technology integration process, creating an affordable suite of solutions to small- and mid-sized physician settings."
